MOPS moment: the one shoe meeting

It was an exciting morning for me--all my ducks were lined up...all the kids in the car, husband ready to speak on a shared fave topic {photography}, dressed in a presentable outfit with my fave sandals, carpool lined up for my eldest two daughters, and childcare for my younger two children, craft project ready to present {I call it the scrap-page sampler, inspired by Stampin Up's Spring mini catalog cover}. We were off to the my beloved Mothers of Preschool {MOPS} meeting. Alex was the speaker and I was to lead the crafts for this meeting. It was my first meeting since what seems forever ago.

Ready to hop out of the car, I reached for my sandals only to find one sandal. In my enthusiasm to see my dear friends, hear hubby talk about photography and lead a really cool craft project {see my sample on homepage}--I lost one shoe! With only the one shoe to walk on, what am I going to do?

Option A: go home to get another pair of shoes and risk being late?

Option B: get upset at myself for being too excited that I carelessly lost a shoe?
Option C: just grin and go bare-footed?

Confession: I started with option B: get upset at myself. Until this verse that I have been trying to chant to my memory came to mind--"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving bring your requests to God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." {Philippians 4:6-7}.

How could I not let go {of my anger} after hearing in my head that beautiful verse? So then, I opted for Option C. Indeed, I went to the meeting without shoes! But with a great sense of peace, I was able to delight in my time with my dear friends, enjoy my husband's talk, and lead the craft project for the 43 moms at MOPS that morning.

I wish I could tell you that I found the other shoe when backtracking my steps. Even better is the peace of God in my heart and mind. What that means is that each time I see my shoe, I just grin.

I still have one shoe left. Anyone have a craft idea using one shoe?
